in my family it may continue.  Every summer (except 2006 when I was in Afghanistan) my two sisters, spouses, niece and son Kabir, go to the mountains and make jam.  This includes plum, peach and apricot preserves.  Its a fmaily venture.  We collect fruit, wash, cut, cook and jar the preserves, all together.  Its great fun.

I remember when my mother used to make jam out of blackberries and blueberries. However, it may be becoming a lost art with the younger generations.
