We will know centuries from now who was considered a prophet in our day

Ohh if God exists, I would think he/she would indeed send prophets, but what are the chances that more than a few individuals would know through all the noise? This reminds me of something I heard/read once, that Jesus could be a stranger on the street, you never know where Jesus will be (for the record, I'm not a Christian any longer), so be mindful of how you treat everyone. But as for *knowing* where the prophets are... I would think that would take someone very tuned in, and I am not one of those people.

Malcolm's homonyn is funny & useful...so many have asked if r EYES can SEE?
Thank you Afzal, a very deep question, it makes us think, despite our clever and entertaining answers. Would peacemakers count...I'm thinking of Mr. Fox who was beheaded in Iraq, though he was/is a Quaker and worked with Peacemaker Teams. I think Rabbi Michael Lerner is a great candiadte in the USA...today there was aMarch, Rabbi L started with prayers by all religions in USA. Then the March in DC was punctuated by the joint chouts of "Shalom-Salaam". We need this urgently.Neil

Afzal, who knows...
maybe prophets are all around us, but today's society won't let us see them.

Maybe he is still sending prophets, but the eye simply can't "see" them or the mind refuses to acknowledge their existence.    Like several that have commented here I do not like the word or the idea of His return as Dooms Day.  I have no fear about His return.  I look forward to it!

Justi ,
Thanks for sharing some good information and insight about prophethood .

Afzal
According to Scripture Jesus Christ came as the answer to prophecy. Now we are indwelt with the Holy Spirit and receive individual prophecy. We still have prophecy it is just that many to not believe. That makes it difficult for them to know what time it is. We have the inerrant Word of God. Another thing is that we are to watch the signs, looking up expecting that Jesus will return soon, very soon according to the signs. That is not dooms day if you are in Christ Jesus, it is first a guaranteed 1,000 years of peace here on earth and then life eternally. The Word was written about 3,000 years before the Koran.

I'm not really sure I actually believe in prophets of the nature you are speaking.  Really, I don't much believe in a "doom's day" either.
No matter what ever becomes of this earth, or of anything, we will always exist in some form.

Afzal

Could be because there isn't any God or gods.

Maybe all the prophets of old would now be sertified.

Who knows?
