finally corbin_dallas, I have irked you into agreeing with me.
however . . .

Star Wars would have taken us so quickly to the same state as the Soviet Union.

economically drained us for a program whose effectiveness was and still is doubtful.

Xeno.......Is this clear enough for you???
You don't need to put words or meanings into what I say or what you presume I think......That would make them your words or thoughts....and I want no part of that mess.

The Chicoms are playing games......perhaps you Libs should have been supporting the Starwars program all along?  Instead you cry that the Soviet Union is gone and there is no threat to justify the program......

intimated, not intimidated

i guess the question is, as I have myself intimated, is why would the Chinese test such a missle?

they have nothing to fear from us, right?

their only purpose in testing such a missile is to destroy their own satellites?

here's what you said, Corbin
"Xeno
Your headline is untrue...they destroyed on of their own disabled satellites......not a US spy satellite.

so I have retracted my previous statement regarding what the Chinese did.

but you as much an intimidated.

Do you want to make yourself clearer and explain exactly what you mean?

Xeno......You just make up things as you go.... don't you??
And of course the whole idea, as Corbin_Dallas says, is to knock down their own satellites.

Xeno....I will communicate with you...but you must not LIE...where do I say anything of the such?  All I did was point out that your headline was untrue...which it was, you response is to spout another untruth.  It doesn't bold well for your reputation....

Bit of a mess there, with that blinking bit, but I guess you get my drift.

xeno et al

The demolition of that satellite was, I firmly believe, a mere gesture ; a cocking the snook at Uncle Sam, if you will.

A far more significant threat to the US, and indeed every worl economy is the ridiculous, dangerous and incestuous relationshp between China and the US.

China hold trillions of dollars of US government bonds, mainly for the privilege of flooding the US with cheap imports. All those cheap teeshirts, bikes etc ( and soon to be, cars ) keep Americans happy and quiescent.

meanwhile this Chinese sponge funds the truly astornomical US fiscal and monetary deficits ; so, theoretically both sides have a strong interest in maintaining the status quo.

er, yesss ... until an issue of extra contention ( Taiwan, Korea, The Spratleys, you choose ) and a showdown results. Who's gonna blink?

America can't, because her economy would be in shreds ; China can't because she would be left holding all those trillions of worthless bits of paper.

The American public wouldn't stand for this savaging, but the Chinese would have to ; 'cos one's a democracy and the other's a gerontocracy in which the proles just do as they're told.

this is probably the most dangerous situation in the world right now ; far greater than Iraq, Islamist terrorism or Iran

Just think about the consequences of a total US economic meltdown. Or perhaps don't ; just go on sleepwalking and everything'll come out fine.

HERE'S A STORY ON THE CHINESE ANTI-SATELLITE TEST

China's Missile Test Strains Relations with U.S.

And of course the whole idea, as Corbin_Dallas says, is to knock down their own satellites.  The test has nothing to do with other countries' satellites, now does it?

What other reason would they have than to start knocking out their own errant satellites?

AND OF COURSE CORBIN_DALLAS, YOU SUPPORT CHINA WHOLEHEARTEDLY?
