I do too, or I take quiet moments during the day. I can tune out the tv to a point, depending on the volume.

I like writing in the quiet also. I have a problem concentrating when there's a whole bunch of commotion going on. Therefore, I usually write late a night.

Thanks - I hoped it would raise a smile, and the poem was accidental, I really couldn't summon up anything much that evening. As to private interests and ambitions, I've learned not to say too much - so I really appreciate the writing community here, we are all of a similar mind and it's great to have that.

I think that's my point, in a way - other writers "get it," it's therapeutic but also so much more - And what a nice thing to say; thank you.

thank you - I do find a lot of comfort in writing, it helps to sift through my feelings, and reading you, and Tony - Ypunday too, with haiku - has given me the nudge to try new things for myself.

I never thought of it that way, being a life-long watcher of people. I tend to try to fade into the background.

Mneme - two great posts.
That story about your son's new girlfriend was hilarious. Good poem as well, really good. I've been in similar situations myself. There's nothing that's as much of a drag as a partner who doesn't support your private interests and ambitions.

mneme.that I had any influence on your trying this free form style is such
a compliment. Thank you...your effort is beautiful...i can feel the depth of emotion...and i found your sonnet lovely! Tonyzonit is an inspiration to me as well! I love your writing, and I'm so glad you find such solace in it.

I know it has value. I often wonder what a person would think if they could know I was writing bits about what I see in them and if they would see the same things. Would they be amused or offended if they read it. Because I write about strangers at times, when I see someone at Panera in the corner tapping away at a laptop or sitting at Crown Center by the window writing in a notebook I wonder if they have seen an anecdote in me.
