In South Africa
such laws would only be in effect under martial law. It may be a civil rights violation depending on the reason for the arrest.

Afzal, I must say that I am becoming utterly fascinated by these details
of your everyday work patterns. Names of places and reactions to the news. Traffic jams. I find it enthralling. Keep it coming, please.

Afzal
I'm not really sure what all the laws cover here. I just know that a lot of them are inadequate.
Good post, sweetie.

Hi afzal
At the moment new laws are being rushed into place on how long a suspect can be held in police custody without being charged( Prevention Of Terrorism Act )the House Of Lords are a thorn in the governments side over the issue.Though I believe they because of their age and wisdom, which is recognized by most, in coming with age are the only ones at the moment whom are not panicking and doing more harm then good. Good post afzal

Afzal ... a very courageous lady. Here in South Africa the individual is
fairly well protected. If the government oversteps the line it gets taken to court. Thanks for sharing.
