I hope you feel better. I don't care about Saddams soul or want to speculate where it is. I do believe the man was pure evil. While you address the US as a hegemony let me remind you that under the United Nations referenda 441..Saddam had been in violation for many years. It was not until he kicked the UN out that he sealed his fate. I do not have a great deal of faith in the UN to fulfill it's own mandates, but I have the upmost confidence that there is an international law and all lands have signed on to that. Look to Libya. When the US went into Iraq old Kaddifry couldn't let the weapons inspectors in fast enough. So if the UN does not have the moral strength or backbone to support itself then by God someone made those laws and we are a nation of laws...we are a globe of international laws written by many law scholars from many lands. While I know who the friends of the US well, I know her enemies better and I will continue to learn all I can. Have a Happy New Year and get well.

Presley,
In that case he would spill the beans and let the cat out of the bag . He served as agent of the political powers to be but he just underestimated those peronalities . Thanks.

There are so many issues we could discuss about Saddam.  I'm curious to see what everyone here is thinking today.  My comment is in regard to "DOES THE PUNISHMENT FIT HIS CRIMES."

Based on his actions alone (not involving religion or the lack thereof) was his hanging due justice?  I don't believe it was.  That, in my opinion, was no punishment at all to the man.  I think it would've made more sense to keep him alive and get more information from him.  Holding him against his will and continuing to deprive him of personal power, to me, would've been more a more appropriate form of "punishment."

Glad you're feeling better...I have no view on this...people reap what they
