Just take a notebook around with you wherever you go, and don't speak. Instead, whenever somebody says something to you, gesture with your finger "one minute", and instead of "saying" a response, "write it". LOL

hehehe, mneme ....I am sorry to have got you thinking more about it.
and thanks for liking the writing me....LOL.
I am really quiet in real life - I don't really say much....I feel that I save it all for writing....I guess that is not such a bad thing - but, it is when I want to express something verbally.

Thank you for your kind words, Justi ...
Yes Jamie and Shannon had a wonderful christmas....thank you.
and yes you are right about having time to think before you write - other than being put on the spot.

Symphony,
I like the 'writing' you already, so I would probably like the 'speaking' you as well. For me it depends on the context; conversations with close friends are better with animation and, like everyone's, my written communication varies with my audience. I can't always get my thoughts down on paper fast enough, either. You've got me thinking about this now...

I think many share the same feelings
I find it a lot easier to write my thoughts than actually speak them

Ahh, 'tis the duality of man...
as addressed in "Full Metal Jacket," and in a song, titled "duality," by SlipKnot.
Nicely worded, Symphony!

I know exactly what you mean, Symphony. I often feel trapped inside myself. Ironically, I find just the opposite true of myself. I find that I speak much better than I write.
You express yourself wonderfully, and I hope knowing that from someone outside your family will help you.

I think you may be to hard on yourself. It is always more difficult to look others in the eye and respond quickly to their questions or statements. In writing you have time to consider your words. We all do better in the written word I think. You are wonderful as you are. Be blessed dear one. Did Shannon and Jammie love Christmas? I sure hope so.

it's called shyness. There's a trick to overcoming it.
Forget yourself. Focus on whoever you're listening to, and don't say much. The less you actually say, the more openings you leave for them to fill, the more you'll understand where they're coming from. And amazingly, they'll think you're a brilliant conversationalist.

Symphony, I think writing allows us to really express how we feel. When
speaking, there are all types of barriers and non-verbal things happening. They often distract and can make it hard to get everything out. I always forget what I'm gonna say. LOL
