I'll follow your suggestions next time I screw up.  It shouldn't be long.  Sometimes I can get stuff back by hitting "undo" repeatedly, but that doesn't always work.  I think I lost it this last time because my laptop battery was too low to save anything when I unplugged the computer from AC.

I have had similar losses.  Sometimes Word saves them without me saving  them, but the filename is the first lines of the post, unless there is punctuation, then it is shortened.  If you have a Windows machine, go to start, then documents, they may show up there and remember, look for odd file names.
