Hi Star - was he in Ipswich in November, that is the question.
I don't think he was, so no need to worry.

Hi Tony
I consider it a beautiful piece, especially the picteresque quality about the whole scene that you capture so effectively.

Tonyzonit - for some reason, there are a lot of prostitutes around me - they live near me, walk the streets near me. Last night I was in front of a convenience store on the other side of town and one pulled up in a car next to me and propositoned me. Knowing a little something of that world, I am actually surprised that more are not killed. Yes, it is very sad. MoonSpirit

Tonyzonit,
very poignant, and a different way of standing up for these poor girls. I like the way it started with the winter and just flowed into another life.

I have to say, this is very evocative & it did give me a chill as I read
it, I'm sitting here with goosebumps. Sad that this is a fact of life for some women.

Thanks Troosha.
I started off just writing about the cold conditions, and then it just kind of slipped into a poem about the prostitutes, who were murdered recently at the start of the winter season. It's a terrible life. I feel sorry for the prostitutes who have to walk around in the freezing cold, wearing very little. It's barbaric, especially when you consider that they do not create the demand, they do it because they need to do it, for various reasons. There is a big difference between the poor drug addict prostitutes, sometimes with children to feed, and the ones who do it for pleasure ans sometimes lots of money, in warm conditions. Thirty is an extraordinary number - that is truly terrible.

Tony, this is a sobering chilling tale (no pun intended).
It sent a shiver down my spine. Your sonnet is very good, beautifully said, very sad, i should say. It moves along nicely, with a shivering rhythm, dare i say.

And a nice dedication it is...
A humbling "job" and an undignified death. Sad. We have a case currently being tried here in Canada. A man has been accused of killing 30+ women - most of them were protitutes. Their life is no less valuable than yours or mine, or any elses.
They are not forgotten, Tony.
