Timmy
I think you'd be surprised at the percentage of people in our country who still recognize Christmas for what it is and always has been.

You will never see that. The non-religious won't let that happen.

I wouldn't like the calendar entry "Jesus's Birthday".
If anyone starts trying to change our calendars, we will finally have gone over the edge. But every year we seem to get closer to it.

And that is probably a good thing. The thought I was trying to convey is that if Christmas were a religious affair, then we would not have it as a holiday. Those that scoff at anything religious or not of their religion would raise a stink.

America is obviously a pretty religious place.
In other western countries, certainly in Australia and New Zealand, the religious emphasis has been taken out of Christmas. It's just the major holiday when families and friends get a chance to be together and celebrate the year ahead. Santa is more important to most of us than Jesus.

That's just it, if it were a celebration of Christ's birthday, we would not be allowed to celebrate

Interesting
Its odd, too, how we celebrate Christmas on December 25th, the birthday of Mithras, god of a mytery cult of the ancient Roman Empire.

TIMMMMYYYYY!!!!!
Since the exact dates of Jesus Christ's birth and death are not know, isn't it interesting that the days used for his birthday and the ressurection (3 days past his death for the believers) coincided so closely with the winter solstice and veranl equinox, when pagan celebrations occurred. Those times of the year are celebrated by many civilizations going back thousands of years - there must be something in the air!

I think the calendar should read:
It's Christmas! If you're offended, PISS OFF!
