They were soooooo committed and proud of what they did back then. I'm sure there are still a lot of women doing that, and doing it better than most modern fathers. I wouldn't be able to do  like mum did, but I have done it as a single father, just not the same and not as well organized.

Timing....

It's important to time things properly. I can time any meal I cook to where everything is ready to serve at the same moment.

It may be a lost art though. (both my parents were excellent cooks)

Our mothers and grandmothers took interest and filled the warmth
of their heart in the food . Today women are more lazy and cold hearted.

My mother and grandmother both had convential ovens
As a matter of fact, I recall my great grandma having one too.  LOL!

My mother DIDN'T do it.

And actually, the only HOT meal we have is Thanksgiving, and I can't say all the food is hot when we eat it.
The rest of the year, my family serves cold "picnic" food. It discusts me.
So now you can feel fortunate. LOL
