Afzal

Misguided, in many ways.

Even if he had been able to get his son through this school, without any real education, what good would it have done?  He wouldn't have any knowledge, he wouldn't be able to actually do any work that he would be hired to do.  Was his father going to find him a job that he could not show up at or do any work, and still get paid? I think not.

Good morning, sweetheart. I will be here sometime later. I don't want to send you an SMS right now, because I'm afraid I may wake you if you have the phone on.  And I don't want to wake you so early for no reason.  So please forgive me. I will be on later when I can, after my mother & son have their turns.

Hi Afzal
It's certianly misguided to promote them at school so they don't have to do any work, yes, although if his father had had more connections besides the school headmaster, he would no doubt have used them as well, such as getting him a sought-after job ahead of more deserving competition. But that asie, it probably did damge his son to do that, because even if you have many connections or just lots of money and don't have to worry about a career, it's still beneficial to have a good education whenever you meet people and want to impress them.
