it depends on the level of abuse.  If it's a complete attack on my very core I might stand up for myself then severe ties.  If it's a minor issue and I simply feel someone was out of line, I'd probably "let it go" and move on.

That would depend on the person, the situation, and if it's worth it.
In some cases the fact that you can outwit them is revenge enough.
