Just this once I'd like to say a general thank you..
you've all been so helpful. I had this dream quite a long time ago, and there was certainly a lot of conflict at the time, and a difficult situation in which I felt powerless. Yet somehow I was able to fight back. I still don't know where this will end, but I'm still here, and I'm very grateful to be able to connect with such kind people. Each step along the way seems to have some sense of things falling into place, and I never lose the hope of an eventual resolution.

The black dog doesn't sound like the cute kind...
... I think it was Churchill who described his depressive moods as a black dog. Maybe you are trying to escape not necessarily depression, but more likely just bad moods, anger, any kind of negativity. Having said that, in my experience dreams are usually just silly nonsense and don't have any serious meaning. It's more likely that you just don't like big dogs. Is that right?

mneme, I don't do dream analysis.  I don't even like to dream.  Sounds like you need to take a few lessons from The Dog Whisperer before you go back to sleep.  LOL

I often wonder why so many of those dreams (when we're being chased by something or running from danger) end before anything tragic actually happens to us.  We wake up.  That in itself must be telling - a message perhaps that our fears are unfounded.

mnem, don't worry, dreams can be scary, but there are some ways you can get

sweet dreams......

I forgot look at your profile, so no idea you are a girl/ guy

If you are a girl: shower before bed.....apply some nice soft scent ( your favorite )

cologne.........take a drop of baby oil and massage your inner foot. Wear the most comfy clothes which you prefer, don't wear too tight of anything, Also apply lotion all over your body before wear your cloth. Drink a glass of water (or juice, if juice must brush)............Put a calming music on your tape recorder, turn the TV, Take a magazine and read some nice interesting stuff......as you feel relaxed before fallin in sleep, just pray to god, remember the most favorite voice you like to hear, slowly try to smell the favorite smell, think about water or ocean.......listen to wind music........now you are in begining to sleep.imagine from feet to head allow the body to sleep.......now you are in sleep.....and the soft kiss of your guy and a beautiful garden.......hahaha, it's technique. Goodnight,

If you are a man, take this change to a man style........you see your sweet girl kissing u in ur dream and u can taste chocalate in dream. How sweet......

I found this immensely enjoyable. You seem to have dreams in a sequence, like Coleridge's. Mine are so unconnected and abstruse. But one thing, if you may have ever wondered?..In dreams nobody is an atheist, All are theists. Strange! Isn't it? We are atheists only in our waking life. By the way, if you may care to have a look, I have done one sonnet today, though poetry is not really my cup of tea.

mneme...
That was an interesting dream and nice poem.  Dreams can really be something else, can't they!  They seem so real.

Good morning, mneme. I found this info on a dream website that I like...
www.dreammoods.com:

On anmals in your dreams: "To see a dog in your dream, indicate a skill that you have ignored or forgotten, but needs to be activated. Alternatively, dogs may symbolize intuition, loyalty, generosity, protection, and fidelity. Your own values and intentions will enable you to go forward in the world and succeed. If the dog is vicious and/or growling, then it signifies some inner conflict within yourself. It may indicate betrayal and untrustworthiness."

On chase dreams: "Chase dreams often stem from feelings of anxiety in your walking life. The way we respond to anxiety and pressure in real life is typically manifested as a chase dream. Running is an instinctive response to physical threats in our environment. Often in these dream scenarios, you are being pursued by some attacker, who wants to hurt or possibly kill you. You are running away, hiding, or trying to outwit your pursuer. Chase dreams may represent your way of coping with fears, stress or various situations in your waking life. Instead of confronting the situation, you are running away and avoiding it. Ask yourself who is the one chasing you and you may gain some understanding and insight on the source of your fears and pressure."

You've written anothe rvery expressive poem...only this time it's really scary! I hate chase dreams most of all...sound slike you'r eup against a big wall. Hope the info helps.
