Perhaps a call to the local fire department
Not the emergency line, mind you, but a call to their main line. Explain the situation, then ask for advice. They may know what is causing the problems. Or perhaps take a look at the website of the alarm's manufacturer. Maybe they've had similar problems with other devices.
