IF God and religion are a creation of man...
...then sprituality cannot be defined through a relationship with a "god" but needs to be seen through eyes untouched by science and reason. I would argue that spirituality is the ying to science/reason's yang and, thusly, would be limited by anything that calls for its classification. Talking about spirituality is akin to dancing about architecture.
Thought provoking post again!

Do you mean being spiritual? Spiritualism has to do with talking to the
dead. If that's what you mean, I disagree...I do not believe in trying to talk to the dead.
But, I see from dictionary.com, that the last few definitions (3 -6) would fit with what you're talking about.
. | the belief or doctrine that the spirits of the dead, surviving after the mortal life, can and do communicate with the living, esp. through a person (a medium) particularly susceptible to their influence. |
2. | the practices or phenomena associated with this belief. |
3. | the belief that all reality is spiritual. |
4. | Metaphysics. any of various doctrines maintaining that the ultimate reality is spirit or mind. |
5. | spiritual quality or tendency. |
6. | insistence on the spiritual side of things, as in philosophy or religion. |

Religion is derived from man's need to know from where he came. A thought is created, that there has to be a source of life's original origin.
Therefore, through history, man has created Gods and Goddesses, in different forms and lights.
Spiritualism is something that we seek when we want to find meaning in our life. It's more something that we "are" than anything else. We are life, we are all there is, we are one. That is spiritualism. Nothing is seperate, not those we love or those we hate, not humans, plants, or rocks, we are all of the same whole.
We are all of one source, and that source is pure and simple....love.
