Tim,
I always want to know, whether the person's situation is good or bad. We don't nowadays take enough time to care, and that bugs me no end.
Unfortunately, I've been in the situation where someone pretended to care when he really didn't. As a result, he started acting really mean towards me and saying some very unkind things. I no longer hear from him, and that as far as I'm concerned is for the best. Though it took me a long time to realise that. Despite everything, I wish him no ill will.
Sadly, the repercussion has been that I'm extremely wary of making new friends...

TIM
I don't ask if I don't care. However when asked I always say fine. Sometimes if you ask the wrong person they will go into everything that has happened to them in the last six months...that's not good~

TIMMY, I have learned to ask in sincerity, and be ready to sit down
and LISTEN to what the person has to say...
otherwise, its like the lady who asked my sister-in-law at church one day how she was, and Joanne asked her "do you REALLY want to know?"..to which the lady responded, "No, I dont have time."...

Depends on the person
I don't ask unless I want to know though. There are some I know ALWAYS has some drama, often self imposed, I just don't ask.

sometimes they will tell the truth but most the time they just say I am ok, some say I am great or whatever, I usually say I am ok, because that is it in a nut shell

most of the time when people ask, they aren't really seeking
a truthful answer. They expect the "I'm fine, thanks" response. Unless it is family or close relationships, then I think when we ask we want them to tell us how they really are. So how are you? And where have you been? You don't have to answer of course.
