I offer no vows, light no candles, just endeavor to get to the goal. As I
tell my children: there is no trying, there is doing. Self-reliance is the key.

Afzal, interesting........and now understanding vow as offering
My most recent prayer; I have in my heart this desire, and my only offering has been; only if it be by your will. I have been praying for this particular longing for several months; My answer recently came from Psalm 37:4-5 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.

This will give me some time to play WoW (World of Warcraft), since
my son is asleep and I don't have to fight him for the computer.

I see. I would have nothing to offer, considering that I don't really "pray" to dieties. When I do use dieties, they are like equals. And actually the only diety I have used, since changing paths, is Bast(et).
I put my request to her, which is usually for protection of some sort, and give her a kiss on her face. Of course, she's cute, and is in the form of a cat, or I would probably skip that last step. Hahaha

Sunny,
I agree with you and appreciate your positive thinking . It is the misconception that prompted me with the question which is usually in practice amongst the Muslims generally .

Ok, it might make more sense to use the word "offering" then instead
of "vow". Most Christians, to the best of my knowledge, don't "vow" to do anything, in exchange for.....what not.
The original prayer to the diety is supposed to be enough. Though, like Catholics may use candles, or other props, the praying for whatever takes place then and there, there are no future "promises" of sorts. Though some people may "try" to bargain with God, in the form of a promise, it's not how it usually works.

You make a vow to Almighty for his help and you promise to do something in
exchange which is a general practice amongst Muslims , Christians, and Hindus and beleivers of other faiths .

I'm not sure, are you trying to ask what you would use as an offering?
Or how you would go about achieving this?

I think I shall go to dictionary.com and see. I think it's your use of
the word "vow" that's confusing me.
