All I can say is "WOW".  The only thing better would be hearing you read what you wrote......Let's hope that all of these great sacrifices have not been in vain......

We've been "Spanished" over here and it was done without live gunfire or explosion.......just simple erosion of will.

Just on my way to be, right now. ( Nearly midnite! )

Hasta luego!

Tonyzonit again

My father was at Salonika and in France. It's a bit of a puzzle really, 'cos he was still there after 1920, with my mother, and my eldest brother ( who was killed at the Crete evacuation in 1941 ) was born there.

I'lll trawl thro' my blog and find the link to the piece that I posted back in early summer about this. I'm only sorry that as a kid, I didn't take more notice of what my parents said.

Hi El Tel
I see this was posted at 11:11 according to my screen. Coincidence? Anyway, I always renjoy reading your knowledgeable and trenchant views on the history and sociology of war. If I'd joined Blogit early enough, I'd have written a piece about D-Day on 6 June, but that could wait till next year. I'm watching a film about the Somme right now on British TV. They're about to go over the top...
