no need to be afraid.

I think some pretty shocking things go through most of our minds, that we would be ashamed or embarrassed to admit.  It's actually to uncover some of them unwittingly through storytelling. "Wow.  Where did that come from?"  It's fun to unleash that part of ourselves, I think.  I'm very excited for you about this new novel.  It's sounds like a writer's dream!

if you're really meant to write it, these questions will drift away, you'll
just write it, without constrictions, because you want to, you have to.  love it and let it come.

Azur, I hope Dave is right. If you could just find the uninterrupted time,
to unleash the torrent, I hope you can.  The question is, can you not, or will it eat you up to keep it inside?

I like what Dave said. I believe in you and know it's going to be great,
when finished.....I wish you all the luck.

So, use a nom de plume

"Maje Rojers".

(You can send your fifty cents a month to PAypal...).

You need to make the time to write it while the fire is there. Write it all
the way through to the end and don't let anyone know about that main character until she's lived her own life in the fiction. That's Stephen King advice really, but I go with it. Get it written, then find out what it's really about. Then polish it. Then send it out. And only then start worrying whether anyone else will 'get' it. It might be that what you've got doesn't fit anywhere neatly - in other words, it's unique. The words of an agent spring to mind - he said: "I'm not looking for something that fits the mould. I'm looking for something that breaks it."

azur,
if you want to write it, just write it:) I have deadlines too and they are a complete pain. annoying, but necessary - so I'd better get on with it...

I understand your resentment completely
Right now the passion has left me but I remember how much I hated every single thing that took me away from my story. The flame's not out.  The pilot light's still burning.  Good luck with your assignment and your story.  You'll make the time for both... somehow.

Go for it. Just write and then worry about everything else.

You are bound to end up with something unique!
