Marie-Claire,
getting there..

Mneme,
You know my thoughts on this one. One day you will know when you've reached a point of no return, when love cannot be revived any more, then it is time up and leave...

Thank you too... I'm keeping an eye on you.

Ariala,
thank you. You are right, it does no good to keep it all inside you because I find I can't concentrate on anything else.  Good health is important too and I don't want any more relationship stress. That's the point of departure for whatever I decide to do next.

Deciding what that first step is going to be...and when to take it is the hardest...but knowing that it can't continue the way that it is--that is actually the beginning of finding that first step...My thoughts are with you....

Offbeats,
thanks for your thoughts.  There isn't an easy answer here, that's why it's gone on so long.  I haven't had the control here, and much as I hate trouble I think it has to change.

mneme, internalizing and living with this sort of pain is so not good
for you...I hope you find the joy and happiness you deserve.

I can't tell
You how bad I feel for you right now. What your going through is something only time can heal ( I know that sounds old and stupid ) ...I have been in your shoes a couple of times. It does hurt no matter which way you slice it. Maybe like Tony said making the first move to go on does help, but whatever you do, make sure it is right for you!!!

Tony,
I just vaguely remember this now you mention it. Maybe you could try a philosophy sonnet and educate us all...thanks for your wise words here. I know it can't continue in the same way.

Oh, i hope you resolve it as best you can...
... but the main thing is to not delay it. get it sorted. Bring it to a tipping point, as they say. It might go either way, keep an open mind, but decide what you want and see whether or not you can get it. If not, then you have numerous other options open. Life goes on - it isn't the end of history. Francis Fukuyama was wrong, as we all know...

Blanche,
so I saw.  I hope it resolves itself quickly, I'll be thinking of you.

Tony,
I'm on it :) An intercontinental move may be necessary. Unfortunately this would entail the use of ICBMs.  Watch the skies. I can't believe I'm even sayng any of this.. sigh.

Sorry to hear this Mneme, and that I did not respond sooner,
I'm having relationship problems of my own today, I'm afraid

Hi Mneme
Sorry to hear about this. I've been in a similar unwinnable position on more than one occasion. It comes down to a choice. it's your choice. You're in control. Make a choice, rather than delay making it. No-one is under anyone else's control. Take charge of the situation. Right, now how can i turn that into a joke? Give me a few minutes...
