Sorry, WillowB, I read that wrong...
you said "meditative state" & I was thinking "medicated salve." There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Along the same lines
try putting hydrogen peroxide on the toe to oxigenate it.

And just what the... is meditative salve?

jemmie, infected hangnails must heal even in sandal option only countries, full of dusty roads.
Your petrie dish shoe may be working against you, more than open air and crusty dust might. Just an old third world health tip.

WillowB

Thanks for the tip!  I'll give it a try!  Actually, I don't have to spend a dime to get aloe.  We have it growing wild in Hawaii!  In fact, way before it made its national craze debut, we here in the islands used it for everything!  For burns, it rocks!!!  I know from experience!

Not a doctor
but I know a little about healing. Wash it very well. Find some aloe/ vitamin E salve (at most drug stores) and dab some on. Get into a relaxed or meditative state. Visualize it totally healed. Repeat "My toe is strong and healthy" 33 times while picturing it all better. You should see some dramatic results, but I would do this once a day until it feels better.
