A Norseman,
Thanks.

Afzal...

I think I agree with what you are saying.  Except I have always thought of indifference as the true opposite of love, whereas love and hate are not opposites but are closely related emotions.  Hate is definitely a negative emotion but I have never thought of indifference as being negative, rather I have thought of it as being neutral...absent of feeling, niether good or bad.

Enjoyed the post.

Indifference and selfishness go hand in hand. I've met many indifferent people, who complain constantly and what they want the most, they are keeping from themselves.

Sensitivity appears to allow us to suffer; but, suffer we must if we are to discover joy.

Good writing Affy. Indifference breeds indifference with me. And
sensitivity breeds sensitivity. I have known indifference in people. But I don't know those people any more.

I have heard the saying
that one should wake up in the morning wanting, in some way, to make their loved one's day just a little better.  I think this is a wonderful sentiment and a gift that can only be offered by someone who is sensitive to someone else's needs.

There can be a fine line between the two. As most people are not one or the other, but mostly somewhere between most of the time.
Depending on the person they are dealing with, one can become more sensitive to the needs of the person if they care deeply for them.
However, if there is little concern for the person, and more concern for the self, and self serving thoughts, they can become more indifferent.
