Thanks to all!

ST - There's just something funny about jellyfish - as long as they keep their distance!

Star - yes, but the credit goes to the animals!

MC - Thanks for emailing - but I'll have to read it after I get back from work!

I like. . .
this playful poem, and I have a strange, love, hate relationship with jellyfish because one stung me once!

"Hey there, jellyfish/Sting me and I'll make a wish."

tony,
I heard of Lewis Caroll but don't know his stuff or Jabberwoky...rings a bell people seem to forget I am French and I have been immersed in a different culture which means I always feel two steps behind everyone else and i never seem to be able to catch up on the cultural gap. Some more reading for me to do, my education will never end...It is overcast today, I went out to give a tuition and I might venture out for a quick walk if I feel up to it. My back starts aching if I move too much, so I have to be patient with myself. I hope the pills knock you down to sleep and that you will wake up refreshed. Poor sleep makes you feel rotten. I see you are brimming with ideas...good. I have to force myself sometimes and I read for inspiration. Other times I can write up to three poems in one day. I find I can usually come up with something even if it is crappy. I sent you an email, to answer your nosey questions. you nosey parker. I am trying to avoid work among other things. Must be your bedtime.

tony, pardon my ignorance
I often mix up Blake and Milton for some stupid reason...I know people often assign meaning that was never intended in the first place... its quite funny really but take it as a compliment anyway.

Hello MC
I'm gonna have to be honest, it's really nonsense - altho there are some references in there, like the tiger tiger poem, which is by William Blake. I suppose if this stuff is reminiscent of anyone, it's the nonsense poetry of Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear. Did you ever read the Jabberwocky?  You know, the only way i can take this further is to try to do a real nonsense poem like that one. it's an idea for tomorrow. You know, it really is like that. it's quiet all evening, then at my bedtime all the neighbours start making noise. I got some tablets, following Passionflower'ssuggestion. You're not supposed to mix them with alcohol, though. I'll take them later, if i need to, after my two glasses of wine have worn off a bit. Have you gone for a walk in the sunshine today? Or is it rainy again?

tony, on second read....
I like it more and more. It is clever and satirical, are you referring to Lenny Henry? anyway I used to love his show. What about hollywood, it is a bit of a circus anyway. I finished all the biscuits... thanks. what a lay out it was. I am glad you had a better sleep. A few more sessions of heavy metal, they will get the message. Thanks for your comments on my poem. I kind of absorbed a lot of impressionists images in my head, they do seem to have an influence on me. Cultural differences do emerge in poetry, whether we like it or not. Tiger tiger burning bright in the forests of the night... I just love the poem. is it Milton or am I mistaken? I love his stuff. i can hear you snoring....and your neighbours stirring...

Thanks Smartdog
But really, I just love the cutey-wutey animals! I wonder if I could do an animal parody tomorrow?

Tony
Both of these are ingenious (and do I detect some parody).

Be well,

Hi Troosha
Yes, I got a bit more sleep last night, thanks. I made a lot of noise yesterday morning to get my own back on the noisy neighbours as they were hoping to have a lie-in. It was cool. i treated them to some punk and heavy metal guitar licks, and turned the music up loud. Hee hee. As a result, they toned it down last night. Welcome to your apartment next to me, oh thoughtless students! Yes, I enjoyed writing about animals again. You can't go wrong with 'em - unlike on TV, when they always misbehave!

Thanks Mneme and Mike!
Mneme, I'm amazed at all the things you saw in it! I feel like a monkey who's accidentally typed a play by Shakespeare!

very clever, external cultural references, politics, intertextuality, comedy - and it rhymes too.

Well done, Marie-Claire.
For arriving first, you get the first selection from the plates of cakes. Coffee cake, carrot cake, chocolate gateau, death by chocolate with cream all over it, ginger cake with custard, jam rolypoly.... Hang on, i'm losing control here. I need to sit down. help yourself. Which one did you choose?

if you do with fluttering eyelash, you get an alliteration... it would probably upset the applecart... good stuff, I would fancy being caught in the stinging match...ouch.
