if I am honest, I have to admit I think about leaving all the time, for various reasons. It doesn't mean I will for sure, though...but I might...lol. However, I certainly wouldn't ever write a post begging bloggers to beg me to stay! ;-)

Lovely, true list Julia

Though I don't think you need to apologize for the other one - most of those are the downsides imho. After careful consideration, I've decided I don't mind silent readers. Comments are great and much enjoyed, clicks without comments shades paler, but no clicks at all the
worst scenario.

I suppose I could write a novella on why silent readers bother me, and some bloggers still wouldn't understand. It's a personal thing I guess, I like to know who is coming by to see me, and so therefore I do prefer them to leave an emoticon rather than slink away...lol. But others don't like them...we can't (and shouldn't) demand anything from our readers; I was just expressing my preference. Thanks for commenting this time!

okay, maybe the last post was pissy but i found it funny. because of
course it's true! we all have readers/writers that grind us, as we ourselves grind others. merely a refresher course on the joys of diversity and choice. glad you found your smile!

Writers benefit from speaking their minds silently.
It's a truly great forum.

Julia., in the cost-benefit analysis I do with Blogit, the pros always
outweigh the cons, good fun, good people, lots of laughs and banter, instant feedback, and despite the one or two people I don't click with, that's life. It's like that anywhere.
As for leaving, don't even think about it! It's not as though you were writing a sellf-pity laden, woe-is-me, I-am-leaving-because-nobody loves me, so blatantly begging for someone to beg them to stay, now is it?

Just curious....
What's wrong with silent readers? I don't always have time to comment on a blog....nor the inclination at times. Are you saying if I haven't time to comment I shouldn't read? Honestly, I could care less who reads and who doesn't and although I do look forward to comments (and emails, and telephone calls, and letters, I am human) I don't think it's something I should demand from people to get them. One more question....is it better to leave a symbol (

,

, etc.) than to come and go without any trace? I think maybe I need blogging etiquette lessons!!!
