Afzal, I think it is a very complicated world that we live in these days.  Nothing is ever simple any more.

You meet the most interesting people...
Not knowing your culture either, it's probably not fair for me to comment.  Can't somone wear the veil, carry out the Islam customs, abide by the religion AND still maintain elements of their original heritage?

afzal50,
I think there is a lot to question morally here but not being of that religion and knowing very little about it, I don't know what to ask and I do not want to judge.  Interesting post.

Wow, I guess many countries have
a "Chinatown".  My town is too small for a "Chinatown", but we have several very good Chinese restaurants.  I am of the opinion that alcohol in moderation is harmless, even healthy. The problem is when people are irresponsible. People are there own worst enemies.  Sounds like Barbara is perfectly responsible, seeing that she would choose to live a more conservative life than she was born into.  I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.  Have a great day!

it's a very foreign world to me... I can't even imagine why anyone would
ever want to wear a veil.
