afzal, I'd head for the nearest bank machine to get more money if there was
time, or else use a charge card...

I once new a kid who was so gratious about presents it was almost unhealthy. My family gave him a wrapped package, and he said 'Oh, look Mum! I think it's fruit. I hope it's a mango. I LOVE mangoes'. We got a bit worried because he really seemed to want a mango.

Anyway, it was a remote control car and he passed out...

Make a card and give, or write a spcial letter to the kid
saying  that how much she meant to you and wish her the best. Kids usually pleased with praising and nice words.

Honey, I know it is. But she's going to have to understand at some point. When the money runs out and there is no food, that will be it, there will be nothing left to understand.  She's going to have to realize that she can't have everything the way she wants it all of the time.

I'm sorry you're going through this, love. I will be here.

Sunny, It is so hard to make her understand . I will return after two and
half hours as usual . Thanks.

I know this is difficult, but you need to start taking care of YOU before everyone else.  All of this gift giving and buying things for others is not going to help you, you will just get deeper in debt till you can't find your way out easily.

You need to take care of your needs first, then that of extended family.  I would NOT put out anything at this point unless it is REALLY necessary.

This is not one of those things again, is it?
After reading some of the other comments, I would say that if your wife doesn't understand this....she has money, let her buy the gift.

why would you "have to" buy a gift at all...
...a simple card, a spoken greeting would suffice, no? Birthdays, in my humble opinion, are over rated in the way we feel obligated to buy things for another person when words can be just as fufilling for both parties....yeah yeah, call me a party pooper, but we all need less stuff...

Sneakermzp, I agree with your view . Thanks.

i wouldnt lie
i would tell the family the truth, if i didnt have the money i would let them know i didnt have the money to buy her a gift. and maybe give here something from around my house that i had, like a movie or book something of that sort. or make something i like that idea to.

Babe's idea is really good but if time doesn't allow then I would give a card with the promise of a gift coming soon.
