Now that you've jogged my memory, I do believe I've heard something similar about the origin of "Friday the 12th." Thanks for the input and the good thoughts. I'm just sorry that my extremely bad cold has kept me from replying for so long. I'll try to do better in the future.

I thought Friday 13th was the date on which the church conducted mass raids to assassinate knights templar - I could be wrong. Thus it was presented to generation after generation as a day on which you needed to watch your back. This is probably part of the lore you speak of. But an interesting part (at least I thought).
