At first I thought you were heading toward that schoolhouse killer
who tried to kill a whole classroom of little Amish girls in Pennsylvania. The guy did kill five and wounded five more, shooting them repeatedly before taking his own life. This tragedy seems symptomatic of our world's awful state of mind; so many are on the edge of post-traumatic stress responses.
I was sad for the little girls, but it was the parents and elders who made me cry. They immediately forgave the killer and prayed for the man's family even as they dug graves for their children. Their tender mercy toward the man who attacked them ripples outward and brings solace and hope to those whose own response to such a threat might have been hatred and vengeance. :)pat

I sympathise to a certain extent, but as you seem to do, we need to ask why, and then attempt to answer that question. Funnily enough, I've covered a similar area myself tonite. And 'Blame it on the Blogit' - wasn't that a Michael Jackson song?

It's sad, isn't it?
The alarming reality is that “they” are human just like you and I – perhaps even God fearing and with a strong sense of family. There are the radicals who latch onto a belief or a cause and all sensibilities are blurred but all too often the commoner – the guy/woman who just wants to go to work and eat dinner with his family – is bombarded by the seemingly infectious passion that the radical possesses. He/she ultimately follows in their step. That to me is what boggles the mind. How can anyone be drawn into the vortex of evil – a cause which impacts or ends the lives of innocent people?
