Sadly, you're right, notapoet. But at least he got to shine for awhile.

"The Bird" was quite a character.
It was too bad he had only the one good season in him. He was sort of baseball's version of the "one hit wonder."

Thanks, notapoet. It was Jack Morris. I also liked Lolich. But my
favorite Tiger will probably always be "the bird", Mark Fidrych.

Probably Jack Morris, although there have been many other good ones.
My all-time favorites among the ones I've actually seen pitch were Mickey Lolich, Jim Bunning, and the old "Yankee Killer" himself, Frank Lary.

Good luck, notapoet. I remember rooting for the Tigers when Sparky
Anderson was there. I'm trying to remember that pitcher I was so impressed with. Anyway, I'm with you on this. None of my teams are in it, so I'm rooting for the Tigers.

Ditto
Not because I'm a Yankee hater, though. Detroit is my team. I'm a lifelong fan who has seen them win the World Series twice, and suffered mightily through the previous 12 baseball seasons waiting for them to get respectable again. Now it's on to Oakland!
