I like to write, but usualy I am so keen to look at the scenery....
that I don't write much. In a plane if there wasn't much scenery I would read or relax and think or sleep. Have a good trip and I hope your mother gets well soon.

A long time since I've taken a train

but I'm a reader. I tend to look for nonfiction when traveling.  I do end up talking with fellow travelers for a while, or in reality they talk to me. People like to tell me thier problems.

Have a safe trip.

if it's a very long travel...then I would read....
if not then I would listen to music...

Reading would be my top choice.

But why not do a bit of everything?
Have a good trip!

Just enjoy
the sights, the people you cross paths with, the smells, the plastic food, the hustle & bustle, and the gift that you have the capacity to make the journey to be at your mother's side.

With the terrorism rules now, much has changed.

I used to crochet, read and play scrabble with the kids. (We have lots of tiny travel games which are priceless.)  Well, because of the terrorism stuff, I'm not getting a pair of scissors on a plane.  I doubt I could get the crocheting needle on now.

I read for a bit.  Since I"m a writer, the big thing I do is go through the inflight magazines.  They are great for writers, and you can only get them when you fly! Otherwise you have to have them send you samples, and that's a fortune.

All that aside, I get motion sick in my CAR on the way to the plane.  So, for all by great plans, I have to take Dramamine for motion sickness most of the time, and it knocks me out.  I'm worse than a kid.  The wheels start to move on a car, a plane, etc, and I just fall asleep.  I wish it weren't so.  I wake up long enough to read the inflight and eat.  Then I'm asleep again.  Worse, when I get there, I still feel tired!

Take care of yourself in your journey.  May you have a nice visit with your mother.
