Good Golly Miss Molly!
Dear S.:
Am I to understand people are gaming the system for the sake of popularity rankings?!? Yikes!
Oh well, another bubble burst. I had to quit going into chat rooms years ago because of this sort of cheap sophistry, and now it looks as if I'll have to vet my blog reads too ...
Thanks for giving me the heads-up, although I never used these ploys and have not yet encountered them on my favorites list.
PS - Thanks for the comment on Corbin Dallas' blog about trans-fat bans. I agree, 1,000,000 percent. You may want to read my Libertarian response to you and him.

Duh
I get it now.... surf around while signed out to avoid the "hooks" which can sometimes be a wasted read.

Schatz, That sounds like a good tactic, but I can pretty much tell already
who I want to read. The first line is visible on the New Entries screen, and I can usually tell from experience, which headlines are just ploys. I like to stay signed in, because it makes it so much easier to flip screens. Good idea, though.

Troosha-do you sign in, or do you stay signed in all the time?
Whichever is the case, there is a sign out button somewhere on the start page. Click it. When you aren't signed in, and you go to my post you'll see a few words, fifteen to twenty I think, and then ....(sign in to see more).....that's how you know.

schatz
well that never occured to me. I guess coming up with a subject for a post is sometimes difficult but some have really nothing at all to do with the content. I just leave if I'm not interested but I guess they succeeded in reeling in my little click.

I've done this a few times on accident
But at this point I can usually tell a misleading headline. That doesn't mean I don't click it; it just means I know what I'm getting myself into.

I’m so “thick” I don’t even know how to determine if someone is signed in or out? Is it the colour?
