Pretty harsh!   Perhaps not unlike most countries here in Canada we have a Doctor shortage.  As a result, bed-side-manner is seriously lacking.  It’s the nurses that deserve a huge pat on the back for offering up compassion, a gentle touch, and a kind word despite the fact that they are over worked as well.

I recently read that part of med school training is...
the dehumanizing of patients.  Supposedly this helps them be more objective in their practice.  New studies are showing that this isn't true but I think it will be a long time before the tradition is broken.  It's one of the reasons that physician's assistants and nurse practicioners are becoming so popular.  Their training includes listening and empathizing with patients.  It's no surprise that patients prefer this kind of care.
