I am so excited for you, mneme!! An exciting French adventure on your own!
AND having someone flirt with you!...that he wasn't your type is a detail...it still makes the heart flutter, nes't pas? My command of French is abysmal!

Lovely, Taps
I will keep this one, and thanks for your comment. Just a few more days here, so I will enjoy them.

mneme, Your post here reminds me of a poem that I wrote a couple of years ago after a visit to Paris. I thought you might enjoy reading it:
An American's French Leave There is a time to go away
and take a break
en congé
desertion from the cares of life
and focus on the things of strife,
Escape--freedom in
Paris gay.
(Who would notice for only one day?)
Sit in the sun 'neath the canopies white;
remember the thrill of that special night.
Let go
les petits ennuis;
reflect instead on the blues of the sea.
Nostalgia will fly me away, I'm sure
to romantic fun at the
Côte d'Azur.The
mademoiselle in the slate blue
jupe(Oooh la la, when I saw her stoop),
her hair held back with
une barrette nacrée,(Do you think sh'd come and sit by me?)
Its the perfect place for
je t'embrasseOh no! Her companion is
la maman!
