Azur,

The what?  You told her about after a long day and having to go to a ball game, etc., and she said it would be a quick dinner.  Now you are wondering why she said that?

Think about that for a minute.

Azur You've got me rethinking that which is quick...
Time is a curious thing Azur...

Majroj,
I almost did. She did pick up the tab. When you want things done quickly you usually end up paying a premium...

Make it count. Leave her the check because you're in a hurry to leave!

I don't have a problem with it
- better a short meeting than none at all...

It is a rather strange thing to say.   In essence she’s saying she only has “x” amount of time for you and if that’s the case why bother suggesting a dinner.  I’m sure she meant nothing by it but it’s a dumb expression nonetheless.

Hi, Azur,
Ouch.  I'm am so guilty of this.  Always in a hurry, trying to "squeeze" people and events into my life.  What the heck is my big hurry, sometimes?  I just have to work on what has become a pretty bad habit.  Thanks.  :)

Some people think it's not cool to take time for others.

Azur
I get wound up sometimes and forget that a simple communion is all that I needed to begin with.

Ah well, luckily enough that she was female, if a male friend said that to
me even in that context, no doubt I would've slagged him severely.

I think women are the worst perpetuators of the 'quickies' (some pun intended).  What I mean is 'a quick coffee, a quick bite to eat, a quick shop, a quick chat', for feck sake just email me if you can't be arsed spending time with me, or spit out a decent reason.

You're a better person than me luv. If that comment is made to me I always back off. Dinner's are not a thing to rush, to break bread with another is a spiritual thing. I like to make supper with a friend a celebration, not a rush.

When people say that to me, I feel like they really don't
want to meet.  They've just got sooo much going on.  I always want to say, get over it... we're all busy!
