South Africans who live/work in Cape Town will eat calamari. I did. But not
something I will seek and buy again......I prefer seaweed--spare the OCTOPUSSY. shalom

Taps, that's why I don't eat in Chinese restaurants which have abalone floating in tanks, or seafood restaurants with live lobsters.

I've eaten octopus and it's not bad. I don't care for the rubbery, will I ever finish chewing texture, but the flavor I enjoyed. I also love calamari and oysters on the half shell. I went to a crawfish boil in New Orleans years ago and discovered they're cooked live like lobsters. I saw them moving around before the boil, but it didn't bother me at all later whwn I ate them. It's few things I won't at least try.

The subject of your post almost has me throwing up, mneme. I'm surprised it didn't have a pet name as well.

mneme, I like salt & pepper calamari, but I don't want to see the squid swimming around alive before its cooked. In fact, I don't want to see anything alive before I eat it. I don't want to think of my meat in that way. In fact, I think I'll go stock up on
Morningstar products in the morning.
