When people say that to me, I usually respond, "So it wasn't done by purpose?" That makes them stop, look at me like I'm a freak, then --almost always-- correct their error.
There are the few who just give me a dumb look as if I am the one who made the horrible blunder, since they honestly don't know that what they said was wrong!

Misuse of this phrase
"Let's see what we can't do." ERRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG. It's "Let's see what we can do." Maybe it's just the optimist in me.
