Hi Azfal
I have a somewhat unconventional view on all this. The answer to all the world woes is not political, theological, sociological or philosophical. Its sensational! I mean body sensations. If the life force feels nice in the body, if it flows freely, our mind is serene. We act with compassion because we feel good, the way we did for billions of years before the ego became the morbid fascination of humanity.

The life force of the body is a microcosm of the energetic flow of society. If parts of us control, dictate and sabotage other parts, then the flow is constricted. We become selfish, in survival mode constantly in ludicrous competition to "get ahead" of our fellows. The organisation of modern societies are like big bodies where one part holds down another part, in ignorance of the fact that its the same body!

The answer is for all of us to remember what we once knew, not in our heads but in our bellies.

Actually, considering that in his culture he can have 4 wives, he's not really doing anything wrong....as far as culture goes, anyway.

And we live in an entirely different culture and we cant understand what his people do. but he is stepping over the line of his marriage  vows even if the marriage is a joke and doing the sneaky things he is doing.

I agree.  He should have thought out what might have occured before he made the decision.
Unfortunately, sometimes by trying to help others, we end up hurting ourselves.  It's a loose/loose situation.

Is this the first time you have tried to log on from home?  Your computer may not be supporting Java for some reason.  Java is what allows the chat window to open.  I'm sorry that you're having problems.
In the meantime, I will see if there's anything else I can do, and I'll email you if I find something.

Odysseus , I was only on the point of asking religious people to be honest
to their preaching , I just asked them to be true to their belief and be honest and serve humanity without any reservation and discrimination , I just asked them to be just and fair in my blog. Thanks for sparing so much of your valuable time to atleast discuss the issue of human sufferings and that is all that we can do .

I think you are very correct that one cannot truly understand
without the experience, and that is much of my point here. And yes, it is quite clear from observation that God does not respond to every element of suffering in the world, or every call for help. But does mankind? How can we chastise God for allowing suffering that we ourselves have the power to stop? It takes warriors to make war. It takes afflicters to have the afflicted. Please do not take my statements as unsympathetic, for they are not meant that way. It is a great privilege to converse with someone in such a far away land and, I realize, that our experiences must be vastly different.

Odysseus, So you admit that God does not help in need and yet we call Him
our best friend. His universe is balance in every thing except human life which is so full of disbalance . You are simply defending God and just praising him for what he does not like to do . I can feel that such defense is just common defense available to religious people . You cannot ever understand unless you face such situation , you will never know unless you go through the similar kind of pain . We ask God for help and we see people dying right infron of us inspite of prayers and they we say that it is God's will to foresee such incidents of human tragedies.

Afzal50….certainly democracy has it’s imperfections,
as do other forms of government. The task of humanity is to devise something even better. Something that will be more responsive to these worldly ills that you so vividly describe here; and which are clearly the responsibility of HUMANITY to solve, because HUMANITY creates these problems. If God solved all of our problems for us, this would just be a robotic and mechanized world, not one that is alive and growing.

Odysseus , I do not understand the philosophy behind catastrophe , I fail
to get the point that God should also put innocent lives to unwanted sufferings only to make them realise the impact of untruth and injustice. Why should God make innocent suffer instead punishing the real culprits. Religious people have all good defense in support of necessity of religion but they fail to actually give up criminal acts of depriviation of basic necessities to ordinary people . People talk of big ideal elements of democracy but fail to feed the poor and protect the lives of the poor who are born to die struggling on the streets every where in the world. No charity is given without interest , no selfless compassion is available in this world . It is nice to hear nice things but only if you find it happening otherwise it is simply hollow talk .

Yes, this is true, my love
People..especially those of political power, often make many promises. But they are only promises to get people's votes.  Nothing more.  It is sad.

posted by Afzal_Sunny7 on August 27, 2006 at 6:09 AM | link to this | reply

You are right but then if they are true to their commitments they should
not talk of great deeds . It sounds like hollow promises with nothing round the corner for the poor except poverty, illness and untimely death.

Hi. You may be interested in my post today
about this. I think that it is through the infliction of catastrophe, that we learn to cherish love and happiness. We must be involved in catastrophe because it lets us truly know and appreciate the full intensity of our love and happiness. Through catastrophe we are prodded into expressing our lives more fully. God has placed catastrophe in our midst because it would not be possible for us to learn to fully appreciate love and happiness in its absence. We cannot truly be altruistic without the existence of those who are in need. We cannot truly define justice unless we see unfairness. We cannot really frame morality except against a backdrop of depravity.

Also, people are just not as compassionate as they
probably should be.

It's not just that. I think people who are born with money
never quite understand the suffering of others...
