I remember the days-
My mother would grow them till large,  slice it,  peel & de-seed it, dip  it in egg and flour, sprinkle it with sugar and fry it until it had this crispy sweet crust and was steaming tender on the inside.  Man, I could eat a whole plateful of that stuff.  I've never made it quite as good as my mother and I am a good cook.  There's something about a  mother's cooking tho.........

Julia

We have a cure for world hunger ~

Actually, my wife used to make a great zucchini casserole which went nicely with red wine.  One of those simple-but-tasty things.  Loved it.  When we divorced, I let her have the house, but I sued for custody of the recipe.

I don't think I've ever had homegrown zucinni....I've had fresh corn, carrots, tomatoes, apples, okra, plums, oranges, tangerines, nectarines, and almost any other fruit or vegetable you could think of.  At this very moment, I'm baking porkchops sprinkles with my own fresh basil...but I don't ever remember eating zuccini, LOL.

I've just discovered this!
We recently moved to a house where some very friendly Chinese people live next door and grow oceans of marrows of various types. They give them away to many people, including us and also gave us some plants to grow. We already have so many growing and in the fridge that I am running out of ideas for new ways to cook them and who to give them to!!

And here I thought August 18 was a holiday in Hawaii . . .

celebrating our admission into the USA.

Guess I should have known better!

Julia, I love zucchini.  I fry it  and I just made some delicious bread with it.  My sister brought it to me and if she brought me some more, I would take it.

This of course reminds me of Medusa's story about her lesbian neighbors who brought two large cucumbers to her door.  LOL  Remember?  LOL

OMG. I did some stump work yesterday up on the mountain. The guy gave me some zucchini and squash. I was considering dropping off on my mother-in-law's door step in the morning, on the way to work. What a coincidence.

Julia,

Soooo...when did you change your name??  It took me a little while to figure out you were still around, and writing quite well I must say.

The summer I turned 12, we had no money and no food.  I remember a great big bag of fresh picked produce arrive anonymously on our doorstep.  We feasted like true vegetarians, and yes there was lots of zucchini in that bag.  It was great.

Pot calling the kettle black,

now Totum.33 :)
