I just recently moved from my place after 20 years and that was really hard to decide what to leave behind,  I had all kinds electronics (modems, dvd, printers) etc that I left as I couldnt see any need to keep duplicate items.  But at the same time I cant find my cat she took off and wont come back.  Oh by the way I only moved about five miles from my other place.  But not easier just closer.

Julia, I'm sorry to hear this..is there any type of insurance you could
fall back on?  they should be held liable for the damages done to your possessions.....

Is there no recourse? Sorry to hear about this. I was pulling my new/used stump grinder home yesterday, when a pin or something came out of the hydraulics. It broke free from the truck and skated down into the ditch and flipped over. It took five people helping me to turn it back over. I left it at a friend's house for repairs. I can sympathize with your plight.

you won't like what I have to say, but...

maybe you're entering a time in your life that doesn't require you to have those things anymore.  Just think, this is opening up new doors to a new path for you.  Maybe you won't like it, but think of the possibilities and lessons learned that lie at the end of today's path...

Well, now you can start with a clean slate!

It is a brand new day! Be brave, look forward and enjoy!

I'm sorry that happened....when my family moved 3,000 miles we were a
little more fortunate...the the only thing majorly ruined was our computer desk which looked like it was sitting in the rain and some poor guy tried to use it for firewood but couldn't seperate it enough.

I used to work for Two Men and A Truck>  I ran it actually.  If you signed a release of liability form, and all the other forms they have you sign.  Don't talk to the Customer Service or office person at the company.  Talk to the person in charge.  They are all so worried about getting negative reports and letting competitors get a better name, they will generally try and work something out with the customer.  Especially if it was a long move which it sounds like it was.  Your stuff should of been blanketed etc.  So good luck.

One of life's realities  is that it doesn't allow one to rewind physically, only psychologically. Accept pain. It is a part of life. And remember, broken hearts, like broken bones, ultimately heal. And the pain does not last forever.

Wow, so sorry to hear this Julia...
Hope you receive some compensation, though I know money can't replace those items that held a different value. Catching up with your journey and posts; I haven't been around much lately and when I am, I've been reading but little time to comment. Wishes for a smoother settling in.

I know, if given the choice I am not entirely sure I would do it either. But it might be nice to just know that we could!!

I'm sorry to read about the loss of material things. I hope you can recover and build new connections with new assets soon.

Julia.

If only we could. There are a number of things I certainly would change/do over. At the risk of sounding like Dr. Phil, I'm not sure I should. Our hardships, trials, and tribulations shape and mold us, tests us, forge us into the individuals we become. Whether we succeed of fail, we need these things. If we face nothing, we are nothing.

bel--
silly stupid me did not think to really read their form; their liability is limited to ten cents per pound per piece, whatever that means. I'll file a claim anyway but I doubt it will amount to much.

I think I would be filing a claim for the replacement of my stuff.
