Tanga,
From your description of rail travel it sounds like trains there are much like the ones in Mexico over here.  They are a little out of date, by Amtrak of the U.S. standards, but they are remarkably pleasant to travel on.  Travel by train allows a much more enriching experience than flying over everything to arrive at an airport.

Whacky,

I used to buy lottery tickets, but then I heard a very discouraging statistic.  Your chances of being struck by lightning are better than your chances of being a lottery winner.

That statistic frightened me out of lottery tickets.  As I see it, that means that if I buy lottery tickets, at two or three per week, I will be struck by lightning before getting a winner.  With my luck, the winning ticket would get burned up in my hand as I ran down to pick up the loot.

OhReally,

I can see that you are thinking about the roller coaster effect.  Those banks do make the turns much safer and faster to go through.  They might even be able to build up enough speed to take those monstrous locomotives through a loop without falling off at the top.  I do, however, plan to watch them run through the loops a few times, through binoculars, before buying a ticket to ride.

It would give the passengers a perspective heretofore unknown to mankind.  Maybe someone like Exxon would support research in the area.  Such a thing would put many more drivers at the wheels of gas guzzlers.

The soothing click clack
of the wheels on the train tracks and the gentle rocking of the train also has adds to the relaxing effect of a train trip.

Great Post!
I think train travel would be better if they added some banks and loops what do you think?

Mademoiselle,

Well, a statistician with a really stacked bundle might argue with me, but the airplane is really nothing but a spiffed up Wilbur/Orville sand dozer with shiny metal and bigger engines hanging all over it.  Sure, they can look graceful and flightworthy, but they are nothing but poorly maintained garbage trucks.  Why do pilots lock the cabin door?  Is it hijackers, or do they just want to cover up comments like, ''I think we must have missed LAX.  That's the Bay Bridge, isn't it?''  And then the Flight Princesses always come out of the cabin pulling wrinkles out of their skirts.

Trolley?  There's always someone flying off of one of those contraptions.  The brakes always make funny noises, and when you think they aren't going to stop it on a hill the driver always looks like he's about to jump out.  Get out quick and some car is screeching toward you.  Those things are nothing but hazardous anachronisms.

Blonde,,
Thank you.  I always like to make people feel more comfortable about things that they do.  Sometimes taking horrifying thoughts and putting them to the ''statistics test'' can be very calming.

But wouldn't the same rules also apply to traveling by plane?

And, actually, even by trolley, as well?

Love can sweep you off your feet,
and carry you along in a way you've never known before.
But the ride always ends, and you end up feeling lonely and bitter.
Wait. It's not love I'm describing.
I'm thinking of a monorail.
