Julia.
I don't ever try to be rude to anyone. I enjoy reading your posts and you know I missed you while you were away. Those cat scratches you told us about worry me. Of course, I am the one who had to get a tetanus shot and take antibiotic because my traumatized cat bit me. Is your tetanus shot up to date. The doctor told me that cats are much more germy than dogs, especially their bite. I imagine they have a lot of bacteria under their nails. I wouldn't want you to end up with any complications from the cat scratches.
When I was a little girl my father took me to the doctor for a cold or something and I remember my father telling the doctor that I had 'Catitis.' My hands were all scratched up. Looking back, now I think that was cute that my father came up with that.
Take care ..........until next time.

Hmmm
I have been commenting irregularly lately...still more reading than commenting or writing anything... and I don't comment evenly I am sure because I don't try to... but I do read...
I can be ruder....

Some have a policy.....
Of not commenting back at all......as long as it's across the board and I enjoy reading their posts...I'll still go there. There are times when I can't respond to a post.....I just don't have anything to say.......and I remember, when I started here, seeing "click cards" or something like that to prove you have visited a site.......some of us have too much time on our hands.........

Like Poker or Other Games, in My Opinion
I think there is an existing strategy that if you read new comers or less popular blogs and leave comments, those people will read you and add to your reader base for they feel highly valued when a popular blogger reads their post. More is gained in clicks that way as opposed to developing a relationship with a popular blogger.
I understand your post and am offering a different point of view for consideration. Those who read and write for their own purposes, are easily satisfied to just read and write when they can and comment if and when they can. Time is a major factor!!! Good thought provoking post!

hey Julia
I'm one who barely has time to stop by....work has me tied by the feet with multiple responsibilities....but nevertheless the time I do have...I'll give my clicks to my fellow blogger friends and to some of the interesting catchy headings! Stopping in to say hi and goodmorning!

Maybe the blogger is on vacation, busy and will catch up later? I am just thinking that because when I come back from my holidays it takes me forever to catch up on my reading..I do agree with you sometimes some are just rude, but there are people I read who no matter what, I will continue to read because I like what they say! I think this is the first time I read you and I will be back! Good post!

I hope I've not done this to you as I do try to reciprocate. I just told TAPS that I must be an ADD reader!! I was reading the comments to your blog and feeling guilty (I can't remember if I'm one of "those"!) and saw her name and thought to myself, 'I need to click TAPS' blog' and before I left a comment on YOURS, I'd had clicked away to HERS! (Sorry, I was getting a little "Kathy Griffins on the D-List" there).
I know for a fact that I've written nice little comments and gone back to see if those were responded to, and they're no longer there?! I never write in flames, so why would one have deleted them? So THEN I wonder if I'm imagining seeing them there, (I take a lot of drugs for Parkinson's) and the writer never saw the comment
either and it's lost in cyber-space out there somewhere, and they may be thinking
I'm the deadbeat?? Oh dear oh dear......
OK -- taking a breath now!

It's impolite to do otherwise.

You are exactly right. If I comment on your post you should respond there and comment on a post of mine as well. I think that is only good manners. How is everything going other than the clicking?

Julia,
I can understand why you're upset. If you've gotten to know people here rather well, it can be hurtful when you leave comments and replies aren't made. Its happened to me a few times, but I do my best not to be unkind about it. (Not that this post was unkind at all...I want you to know that.)
Having said that, please, please understand that when I don't comment on someone who's commented on me, it is never out of rudeness. My energy is often limited to writing the few posts I manage in a day, so depending on how much I actually have, it has to be spent accordingly.
God bless...

If you recall I wrote a difficult to recall the name post
Tit For Tat, Starboard vs Port BUT What About Tit (or Tat) for Zilch? about how the ship goes arond in circles when the currents run only one way.
Some folk will discuss something for eternity at their place ........
I had someone say to me the other day that I'd got my click. I don't care about clicks unless there are none ;-)

I try to get back to everyone if they make current posts. When I see it
go by in the "New Post" area, I always read them first. I know there are a few that have no interest in leaving comments for me, and unfortunately, that's made my interest in their posts wane as well. Oh well... like you said, there's only so much time to be spread around. I might as well give back to the giving!

I kinda go in spells, which may very well be rude.
I nearly always click -- I sort of run feast or famine with commentary -- either I can get to a lot of folks or I can't get to any. But if you don't hear from me, that just means I haven't been around that much.
Then, of course, sometimes I'm just lazy, which sucks on my part...

I ALWAYS click your posts...
Though I may not always leave comments.
I've been in the writing rut again--the one where I just don't want to write. :(
But I still love you and your writing!

Julia, even it if's not strictly quid pro quo, it's still nice to get
acknowledged. I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea, political bloggers for example, typically sniff at journal writers, so I've learned not to expect reciprocal clicks from people who typically write there, but still, you're right. It's like phone calls, if one person is doing all the calling, there's an imbalance.

I've been guilty of this
It's not always rudeness but just cluelessness. At least that's my excuse. I found myself so busy with the blogs I discovered when I first came here, that it didn't occur to me that I should be reading the blogs of those who read me. I know there are those I read and comment on, who never visit me and I'm okay with that. Not sure why I don't care, but I think that fed into my cluelessness. But as you can see, I'm learning. I came here after you commented on my blog.
