Me and my daughter and son live with my mom. I don't work right now, due to having two children and being disabled.
I have outside family...one grandmother, one grandfather, 5 aunts, 5 uncles, 9 cousins, 5 second cousins.... these are the one's that are still living

afzal50...actually, I'm nowhere near independant
At least not financially. It's just mostly that I'm afraid of people

It sounds like it has it's good points and bad points.
I guess it would depend on how well you like your family. Though it does sound secure.
Being that I'm not the real social type, I would probably not want to be in a joint family.

Sweetie, Joint family system is a system where people of the same
family and clan live together ,work together, happen to share economic
burden together, support each other , care for each other and the family property remain inseparable till actually the family is divided due any compelling situation. Thanks.

Hmmmm....guess I don't really understand this.
Guess I would need an indepth lengthy description of what goes on in a joint family before I could say yes or no.

The property and law of inheritence is governed in a way to keep
the family under one head known as HUFi.e., Hindu Undivided Family , which is run by Karta , a karta is an eldest male memeber of the family and is a kind of legal manager of the Joint family property.

Lilane, A joint family concept supports the individual to a
great extent. In India there is even legal concept of Hindu Joint Family system.
