Besides, it's not like his was the only regime committing human rights violations ...

I didn't see us invading China or Saudi Arabia, for example.

I have now deleted the other posting.  Back on topic:  You're right, not that that is any concern of the United States.  It should only be our concern if there are human rights violations, of which Hussein made a few, but which we basically did nothing about.  Bush makes a mistake in spelling (a 'q' for an 'n') and makes up some lame-assed story about nuclear weapons and ties to bin Laden -- and voila! -- we're up to our helmets in War on Terror bullshit, not to mention committed to a neverending firefight.

I wonder what the Iraqi civilian death toll was during the final 6-12 months of Saddam Hussein's (peacetime) reign?

I'm guessing it was considerably less than 14,000.
