bartender vs courtesan
a bar tender does sometimes leave part of themselves.  As does a call center worker or a doctor or a taxi driver.

Listening to some irate person vent and whine because they're angry over something and the reciving person has to just sit there and say how sorry they are, stroke the value of the person who didn't know X worked like.. well X. ... that takes a part of a person's soul too. Or can.

If a hooker were not a hooker but a temple worker, or a courtesan, and they had the status of rock star,  drove nice cars, got seated first at resturants because what they give was so valued.. well, there wouldn't be anything undesirable about that.

Our culture, which is currently being pushed hard by radical religious persons with roots in Jewish, Islam, and Christian thought.. well, they don't seem to value anything their faith considers sin or an affront to their god. That's where the problem comes in. Those kinda people can be dangerous, ie crusades, inquisition, the present state of the middle east.

A person who brings pleasure to another person, takes pride in their work as they heal the soul of another, that should be a good thing.

Yeah, there's a difference
The bartender doesn't leave a part of themselves with the person they fixed a drink for.
