shucks, and all I get to encounter is a feisty mama raccoon
sneaking in the front door to grab a bag of cat food and run with it... now that the possums seem to have gone... But I could tell you the story of this scar over here on my arm, from an angry bobcat... It was not angry with me, and it was only a kitten, and I'm not sure if this here is the scar, or this other faded one over here...

Well, I figured that he would be scared of me, too, so I went ahead and took them.

Wow, Avant-Garde, what an amazing experience, I'm surprised you had the
presence of mind to snap pictures. I think I might have been tempted to leave the camera behind and make tracks!

Yes, I'd say it was about 25-30 pounds. It was slightly bigger than a very large cat. I've seen others since then that were slightly smaller. My wife saw one driving home from work late one night, and described it to me the next day.

Good writing. A bobcat though is not much bigger than a large cat.
Yopur description is vivid, but sometimes made me think of a lynx.

Thanks. I would daresay that many eyes are upon us in the woods. We feel it, but we have no idea from where.

It was an exciting thing to witness. I talked to a guy at work about it and he said, 'damn, you always see the good stuff!'

There are a lot of animals watching that you'll never see. We're as conspicuous in the woods as they are trundling in our subdivisions.

Wonderful and a bit scary :) I often feel I'm being watched if I'm walking
in the woods or remote area.

Not only up above, but underneath as well. Many hunters hide under rock outcroppings, in another animal's den dug out in the dirt, or in the tall grasses. Nothing like a badger coming at you from out of the grass full bore with fangs glaring to get you to learn to watch where you are going! Bobcats will do the same thing!

Thank you. Our move has not happened yet, as the realtor of the buyer is not representing him very well. He is representing a large land developer and cares nothing of our need to move. He has set a closing date for our buyer for August 10. Our buyer has apologized profusely, and wants to compensate us for our patience, though it is running thin. We are looking into going ahead and moving, and paying partial rent. The waiting is driving us crazy.
I've never seen a cougar or bear in the wild, though I've expected it many times. Keep yourself safe there. Have you ever heard of warring angels? They are said to offer protection if you call them.

I love the way you tell stories Avant......this had me on the edge of my
seat. Wonderful! It's synchronistic that you posted this ...this morning our local news warned us that there are more than usual cougar sightings and for us not to leave our pets out and to be careful hiking, etc. They are beautiful creatures but I don't want to find them in my backyard. There have also been more bear sightings. They have mostly been spotted along the creeks and since I live on one of the largest creeks in the mountains I am on the alert. I hope you have a great day and weekend. How are you enjoying your new home?

As you usual you are very kind. But I wish to express my apology for this belated reply to your very kind and encouraging words. These days I am too busy and since blogging is almost like a job I find it pretty difficult to joggle both. However, as I have done today, whenever I am chance I will always reply and read your posts. Once again thank you and God Bless.
