Well it all depends on the name  commercialised by the manufacturer of the soft drinks

That's funny.   I've never heard of zoris before, but it is 'flip-flops' or 'sandals' for me.  What do you call 'slippers' (the things you wear around the house at night and in the morning that are usually next to your bed)?

"Soda" all the way!  I FREAKED out the first time I heard it referred to as "pop."
Then again, in Hawaii we say "slippers" when we talk about what y'all refer to as "flip-flops" or "zoris."

this is an interesting study. I grew up calling it Coke (TN) but up

here (WA) its pop, at least that what my girlfriend calls it

I live in Michigan and call it soda!  But that probably comes from living in the south at one time.

                True story:
An out-of-towner went into a Denny's late at night, casually strolled up to the counter and ordered a "pop" ... which he was eventually served, grudgingly.  But later, when the poor sap left the restaurant, some toughs were waiting for him in the parking lot.  And they killed him.  All because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and called a carbonated beverage by the wrong name.
Though I'd like to look down at the earth from above
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I might like it for one afternoon
I don't want to live on the moon

I dont think I've ever heard anyone in Canada refer to it as anything....

but pop...I think there's a brand called "Sparkling Soda", but its still just pop..
