Thank you all for your interesting comments.
I don't have a problem with either poetry or prose, they are just different media/medium? Poetry is more concise and freer in a way, but also can be made extremely complicated and restricting, that is why I flaunted all the rules, the few that I know anyway. I just don't like it when people see poetry as the poor cousin, or it is for sissies. I don't like prejudice, if you see it in me, tell me because it has no place in my life. Opinion is different if it has a sound base, on knowledge, and taste you cannot argue with people's taste. It is hasty judgment that I object to. I just love poetry, I feel more comfortable with it than prose, and I find it quite scary to write a blog. I feel exposed but I do it as a challenge to myself so I can improve.

Bon après-midi, Marie Claire. Je suis heureux de vous rencontrer ;
vous êtes tellement très doué ! Votre poésie est tout à fait belle, et j'attends avec intérêt de lire plus… quand j'ai plus de temps.

Am I a POETRY versus PROSE person, No...I love them both. Thereis something quite challenging, exciting about squeezing a large story into a very small frame...a frame so tight and small that there's no wiggle room...THAT is what I love about poetry. Now, of course I love prose...I'm verbose!! I love just takin' a walk down the road, wanderin' off now and then...never staying in a straight line!

marieclaire, My dad was a man's man and he was never ashamed of his love for poetry.   He memorized his favorites and quoted bits of them for any occasion.

Someone will always have something negative to say
I write poems, verses, rhymes or whatever because I love to write and that's how I like to express my emotions. I'm no maya angelou, but I "do me" and that's what's important, I guess.

I think the images come through
very strongly in your poems. Images I find easy and fun too and that's what readers responded to  but I could see I had no idea about rhythm. I think I was unnecessarily self-conscious about poetry because I have to write prose to a high standard for my work.
It's hard to know if this mentor helps you or not. Do you write some poems in French as well? If so how different is the rhythm?
I have to write also - haveto , have to, have to.  All of this discussion has stirred thoughts of perhaps trying again - just for my own entertainment.

Look it is all a big pretense!
There is a fine line between poetry and prose, we could debate ad nauseum about this. I just enjoy playing with the words exploring different images. Some of what I write is crap, but then it is not much worse than any one else. It depends who you compare yourself with, I always fall short, when I look at some great poet, but I have also seen stuff I don't like in print. You can't argue with people's taste. I have a mentor, an old guy who likes my stuff but he picks holes in every word I write, so in the end, I give up. He says I always break the rythm but I don't fully understand it because of the stressed syllables in English, it is all too technical for me. I do my best, I learn I read. What more can I do? I enjoy writing, it keeps me sane.

Goodness me
Did someone try to diss poetry? I love it but sadly lack sophistication in these matters.  I sometimes see bad poetry but don't know enough about how to make it good. I suspect some can't be made good. I once wrote a poetry blog which people seemed to like but the real poets knew that I did not understand the nuances. I have never thought of it as poetry vs prose. I would not be game to try again here  now.
