Thank you.
Reason is what is so sadly, and so fatally lacking in a tiny few in here, and in so many without.

THank you. By coincidence, I was just reading your post about PC and Superman.
Shakespeare had it right, when Bottom ( I think )says " It's a mad world my masters!"
Things like my post, and many other os a similar kind in here should be required reading for any student of history : or blogger.
I'm continuing my family history tomorrow, and in ( I guess ( a couple of days, I shall write about WW11 seenthro' the eyes of the boy that I was then.

Thanks for your great tribute to a Once Beautiful nation.
We've come a long way, but in the wrong direction.

God has, and will continue, to bless America....
"She (America) is the aggregate of the hopes and fears of the ordinary lives of moderate Americans."
You've summed it up nicely in the above line, Ariel...an excellent post..hopefully the above line still applies to the civilized world countries in general...(and let the vermin of the world go cower in their cowardice!)

War is hell, Ariel,
Somehow, the ones who understand war the best, are the ones least likely to wage it, the generals like Eisenhower or Sen. John Murtha. It's the chicken hawks who fled the draft who stand, taunting others. like the loud-mouthed schoolyard bullies who let their older brothers take the brunt for them, who start the most trouble.
I never fall into the trap of thinking that George Bush IS America, the 'l'etat et moi' (I am the State) philosophy of one of the Kings of France, who belived he ruled by divine right and that his will was indivisible from the country's.
I agree about the vitriol, and death of reason here. I have been attacked viciously for daring to venture a reasoned argument in the News & Politics section. Now, I venture there with trepidation but with a firm desire not to be silenced by the deafening howls of the apologists and those who apparently cannot separate blind political allegiance from well-reasoned dissent. I love my country too much to not say what I feel. to be true. I will continue to do so.
