That's really good advice, and oddly enough I had been thinking along those lines myself for a while lately.  Maybe now's the time to do something about it.

I think the rule with costs is that they are OK so long as they are not more than you can afford to lose

JohnMcNab, That is exactly what I have done
I was making my own way and then I saw  the opportunity to go on a scheme like that. I had to complete a course which I did will convalescing - attending what classes I could before and after the op.  Once I worked out the plan and could see where I was heading it is much more focused. I am lucky too because my scheme provides a small amount of seed money and I have a mentor. It's funny really because I'm not doing anything different than before before but the structuring of the business and the goals make all the difference.  There comes a time when we all have to find other ways of looking at things. Of course sometimes I think I should go to the city and just get any job so I didn't have to think so much. When I was employed I didn't realize how little I had to think...................

Azur

Your post switched on a giant floodlight, Azur.  I met a young man on Monday who was on a government scheme to promote small businesses.  When I asked how he was doing, he shrugged and said, "I'm getting paid anyway, what difference does it make?"  Being from a different generation, I was shocked at his attitude, and thought, 'What a waste.'

I am going to look into the scheme to see if I am eligible.  I have also been in touch with the editor of the local paper.  It is time I used my gift for profit - (i.e. we are running short of money and it is time I got my finger out of my ass.)

Good move, I'm working at getting published now based on costs versus profits. I've found a place in the U.S. now where I will publish, it's such a large market compared to Canada.

Kinda like being "discovered" in show biz

you work like hell to learn the craft, take whatever jobs you can find, invest more time and thought than the work deserves, keep putting one foot in front of the other, and all of a sudden you're an overnight success.  You've got some great ideas, and I hope the business pans out.

Don't know why I thought you were offline or recuperating or involved in non-Blogit...  Anyway, it's good to know you're here and working.  :)pat
